Citizen Cruz

By santacruzen

As a Co-Producer of local community cable television show in Santa Cruz, I have been working on television show topics which start local conversations about the meaning of being a citizen. For over a decade, I have been teaching classes about waking up inside the dream, becoming lucid in order to wake up to our reality. This past year, I have been taking the mission from small groups and small audiences to local television audiences.

As a citizen, I had never participated in politics until I became a volunteer for the Hillary Clinton for President Campaign. As a citizen, I became one of the many people who began to focus from within a grass roots movement called PUMA – affectionately called Party Unity My Ass.

This weekend, my great aunt and great uncle came to visit us. They came to our television show and sat in the audience. That was special for all of us. My great aunt, one of several sisters of my mother’s mother, travelled from Seattle, WA. My great uncle, one of the many brothers of my grandmother, came from Hollister.  They knew that we had been doing the  local television show but they did not know that we were also doing PUMA.

My great uncle told me a story about him participating in a Protest Vote. His people chose to vote for a man, a comedian I think, who was well known to them but was not a politician. It was interesting to me that my great aunts and uncles might have participated in protesting the Democratic Party but they did. We are not alone.

Besides that conversation, I learned about how proud my great aunt and uncles, another emailed me, are of me and my partner for being “radicals” as my great uncle stated it. Well, in this day and age, it is hard know what is radical. If radical means cutting to the core and starting from there then we are radical. My partner and I have many projects which interface with our core and hopefully with the core of many other people. I will be posting projects as we are ready to release them.
